Golden Milk has many benefits and turmeric may be the most powerful therapeutic spice in the world. With flu season is full motion, it seems like a good time to share this ancient Ayurvedic beverage. It has been used as a medicinal herb for thousands of years in traditional Chinese and Ayurvedic medicine.
- 1 cup coconut milk
- 1 tbs coconut oil
- 1 tsp turmeric powder (or grated)
- 1/2 tsp ginger (grated)
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- pinch of sea salt
In a pot, on a low heat - place your coconut oil with the ginger, turmeric and black pepper to a light simmer. After about 1 to 2 minutes, pour in your coconut milk and stir for 1 to 2 minutes. At this point, you are almost done with your cup of golden mylk. Add your other spices for flavor - let your mixture come to a light simmer and remove from heat.
I love this beverage and is a great morning drink to replace coffee or an evening drink before bed. There are many benefits with this drink - anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, decreases depression and anxiety and improves brain function.
